Avian Bornavirus

Formerly known as proventricular dilitation disease, avian bornavirus infection is one of the most frustrating conditions encountered in avian medicine.

See LafeberVet's NEW Avian Bornavirus Primer to review our current understanding of this complex disease.

Featured Contributor

First author of the Avian Bornavirus Primer is Dr. Sharman Hoppes, a Clinical Associate Professor in the zoological medicine service at Texas A & M University. Dr. Hoppes completed an avian medicine and surgery residency at North Carolina State University and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Avian Practice in 2000. She is a Past-President of the Association of Avian Veterinarian (2012) and her research interests include proventricular dilatation disease in parrots through her work at the Schubot Exotic Bird Health Center.
